Aberdeen, SD-Funeral service for Roger D. Thomsen, 51, of Aberdeen will be 4:00 pm, Sunday, March 17, 2019 at New Life Fellowship. Pastor Rodney Johnson will officiate.

Burial will be in Pamona Valley Cemetery at Kulm, ND in the Spring.

There will be a prayer service at 7:00 pm Saturday with visitation from 4:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Roger died March 9, 2019 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

Roger D. Thomsen, son of Elden James and Frances Marie (Dok) Thomsen was born April 13, 1967 at Aberdeen, SD. He was raised in the Central Dakota area and lived all his adult life in Aberdeen. He attended Ellendale, ND High School and obtained his Parts Training Certificate from North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. Over the years while living in Aberdeen, he had worked at NAPA Auto Parts, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Carquest, Hub City Auto Parts and Aberdeen Accessories-Chrysler Center. Roger was currently employed with Lien Transportation as their Tool Room Supervisor.

Roger liked auto races, car shows and anything to do with cars and also collected NASCAR memorabilia. He enjoyed fishing and (bomb fires) with friends and family. He took great pleasure in helping others, especially if it involved children’s needs. Roger always put others before himself and after his death, he graciously donated his corneas.

Roger attended New Life Fellowship and was a participant and sponsor of Relay for Life. For the past two years, his team, Carol’s Crew was #1 in fundraising. Roger was proud of being a 25-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Grateful for having shared Roger’s life are his siblings, Sheila (Stanley) Rattei of Ashley, ND, Jeffery Thomsen of Mocksville, NC, Gail Merritts of Ft. Meade, MD, Todd Thomsen of Ellendale, ND and Barb Thomsen of Aberdeen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rodney Thomsen.

Casketbearers will be Andrew Merritts, Derek Merritts, Todd Thomsen, Jeff Thomsen, Ray Bower and Lynn Holzkamm.
