Aberdeen, SD-Memorial Service for Sheila M. Wald-Salas, 56, of Aberdeen will be 12:00 pm, Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Aberdeen Alliance Church, 1106 S. Roosevelt St. Luncheon to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Rev. Michael Wood will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
Sheila died August 27, 2020 at Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota in Sioux Falls.
Sheila Marie Wald, daughter of Allen LeRoy and Janice May (Berreth) Wald was born April 23, 1964 in San Jose, CA. She started school in Brighton, CO and in 1978, she moved with her mother to Aberdeen and attended Central High School. Sheila earned a GED and went to attend and graduate from Stewarts School of Hairstyling. She then worked out of her home doing hair. She worked at The Library Bar and Front Office as a waitress for many years. She later drove a taxi in Aberdeen and loved visiting with all the individuals
Sheila moved to Michigan in 1990 where she was an in-home caregiver. While in Michigan, she also became active in Ministry, helping in children’s ministry. In 1991 she moved to Pennsylvania to be by her sister, Sheryl. There she was involved in children’s ministry and in 1995, she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin then later to Wyoming. In 2009 Sheila returned to Aberdeen.
Sheila enjoyed fashion, cosmetology, especially doing hair. She loved being outdoors, going to lakes, camping and campfires.
Grateful for having shared Sheila’s life are her six children, Rayannan Taken, Jessica Taken, Alicia Salas, Brittany Salas, Jasmine Salas and Katilyn Salas; 16 grandchildren; father, Allen (Patricia) Wald, Sr.; siblings, Sheryl Miller, Allen (Denise) Wald Jr., Steven (Rebecca) Wald, Kristen Wald-Rael, Russell (Jolie) Kimball and Karen Kimball; 11 nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janice Berreth-Kimball (3-24-2017) and one son, Nickolas Harty.
Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
