Sherri died January 3, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Sherri Lynne, daughter of Charles and Kathleen (Lovering) Sanderson was born June 10, 1963 in Aberdeen, SD. She attended school at Simmons Elementary, Simmons Junior High and Central High School, graduating with the class of 1981. She then attended Northern State College, later transferring to University of Sioux Falls, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Sherri moved to Seattle, WA in 1989 and worked in Information Technology (IT) at CRISTA Ministries until 2016. She then worked for Aviation Technical Services in IT doing voice over internet protocols. She was forced to retire due to her cancer treatment and moved back to Aberdeen on May 31, 2020.
Sherri always had time for others and while living in Seattle, she would do volunteer work with high-risk women and street youth in downtown Seattle. She was also a telephone counselor for at risk youth, giving them a tremendous amount of personal support. There were many ministries which were true and dear to her heart, where she volunteered numerous hours.
Sherri enjoyed reading books and over the years, music was a big part of her life. She played the piano, organ, alto saxophone, all woodwinds and had a beautiful singing voice. She was an animal lover, always finding some time to connect with them. She loved visiting with people and was very much a people person. She used that gift and had the opportunity to travel to Bolivia to experience and support the ministries of her colleagues working in international development. Sherri, two Aunts and her Mom traveled to visit Thailand where her sister lived and worked for World Concern a division of CRISTA. Sherri was a member of First Baptist Church.
Grateful for having shared Sherri’s life are her father, Chuck of Aberdeen; brothers, Scott (Roberta) Sanderson of Aberdeen and David (Sheila) Sanderson of Sioux Falls; sister, Mary Sanderson of Lynnwood, WA and niece and nephews, Sierra, Roman and Brandon.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen on May 1, 2011.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Ken Kusler, Timm Roberts, Tom Roberts, Alan Roberts, Sierra Sanderson, Brandon Baldeon and Sherri’s uncles and cousins.
Casketbearers will be David Sanderson, Scott Sanderson, Roman Sanderson, Mike Salem, Ken Peterson, and Jay Kusler.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Avera Hospice, The RivKin Center and PAWS in memory of Linda McCormack a dear friend whom also lost her battle with cancer.

Sherri was a sweet soul. She was courageous in her extremely tough battle. She was an inspiration. She will be missed.
Condolences to the Sanderson family, very sorry for your loss. Sherri will be greatly missed.
Praying God’s peace and strength for the Sanderson family. So grateful to call Sherri a sister in Christ. Remembering our time together fondly.
Sherri was one of the most caring people who had a great sense of humor even when she was in pain. While fighting her own battle, she helped take care of another friend who was also fighting cancer. God truly blessed us when He brought Sherri into our lives. ❤️ You Girl
Sherrie has been a favorite client of mine for many many years. I will miss our conversations.

Sherri was one of the kindest, most beautiful souls I have ever met. I am thankful to the LORD for the gift of knowing her. My heart goes out to her family. Question about the live stream–I am in Seattle. What time zone is the 530pm in?
Sorry! Didn’t realize I was replying to a comment. I thought I was adding a new one. Not sure how to delete so I can post correctly?
Prayers to Mary and her family. Same question as Ani. Is the time for South Dakota?
Ani – we are in Central time zone. 5:30 here is 3:30 there.
Sherri was such a kind person. I am thankful that I got to chat with her in the past few months.
We are all better humans, having known Sherri. She was one of the kindest, most caring and humble people I’ve ever known. We all miss her generous soul, infectious giggle and giving spirit. I love you so much friend – fly free and save me a spot beside you!

Such a kind person with a tender heart. The world needs more people like Sherri. Our sadness is that we will miss her for a short time, but our Joy is that she is fully restored in Eternity
She loved the Lord. She loved working with others. She had a ready-laugh and an inviting spirit. Because of her faith in a merciful and gracious God, she is now fully restored.
Such a privilege to know and share life with Sherri! Her deep love for Jesus, family and friends will always be cherished! So grateful for the gift God gave us in Sherri! My heart aches that I cannot enjoy her calming presence and listening heart this side of heaven but oh so grateful for the promise of an eternity with her!
Sherri was an inspiration to me as I went through cancer treatment. She was always dependable and cheerful, making the best of every situation. She exemplified grace and contentment in all situations.
Sherri had one of the most Christ-like spirits I have ever come across. You could look in her eyes and see the love of Jesus looking back at you. I had a soft spot in my heart for her from the first week I worked with her. I really enjoyed our get togethers in the last five years and will miss her laughter and joyful spinit.
I was blessed to have met Sherri in a work relationship that began in 2011. She was so helpful and a great encouragement to me as we moved our young family to a new continent with our ministry. I was also encouraged over the past few years as she served through her battle with cancer to see and hear how she was touching the lives of so many others, serving and loving and living until the end – a testimony shared from other comments on this post.
Condolences to her family and others that love her as you grieve the earthly loss and celebrate the Crown of Glory she now wears in eternal Shalom.
Sherri was an amazing person who was not afraid to put God first. The things I learned from her! And her family has always been a wonderful supporting group. We are all lucky to say we knew Sherri. Almost jealous that she is in heaven. Oh the welcome she will receive!!! Sending hugs and prayers to everyone who will miss her faith and joy.

Through the years I enjoyed sharing meals, desserts or just a chat in the halls at work with her.
I met her in 1999 and I was just blessed to meet all of her family through Mary. Her visit to Bolivia was our highlight as she was able to meet my family too.

Sherri
We love you and will miss you. However, we are comforted by your faith and feel you are at peace.
I remember your love of music and being a beautiful musician. I heard you play the piano more than the saxophone or the organ. One of my favorite pieces was the “Lord’s Pray.”
My empty heart is being filled with wonderful memories and love.
Sherri’s beautiful smile, her laughter, the special way she looked at you with her eyes saying “you are important to me” will always be remembered in my heart. I am so grateful for the time I knew her and to be able to share the love of Christ Jesus with her as a Soul Sister.
Beautiful service of remembrance and video. Thanks for sharing this sacred time with us. Many beautiful memories of Sherri!
Cousin Sherri was such a fun loving person. Full of laughter and joy. Adventures with Sherri and her sister Mary whenever Uncle Chuck and Aunt Kathy came to Washington are memories I will always cherish. Fortunate and thankful to have shared parts of her life. I know heaven has a special place for her as she joins her wonderful mother.
Sherri was such a lovely person. Her friendship is a treasured gift. She lived out her faith with grace and strength. What joy to know she is with our savior Jesus. My prayers go out to Sherri’s family during this time. Thank you for sharing photos and this special time with so many.
Fond memories of Sherri as a classmate. She was caring and full of life. She lived out a life of service to those in need. Heaven will welcome her and she will hear those sought after words, “well done, my faithful servant.”
What a beautiful ceremony and celebration of Sherri’s life. She lived her life blessing other’s around her. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends…in her father’s loving words- Sherri has gone home….rest in eternal peace Sherri.
Longtime co-workers at CRISTA Ministries form a loving bond and we formed that with both Sherri and her sister, Mary, over many years. There are good memories of these dear friends and our journeys together. We look forward to the joyous reunion with Sherri in heaven one day.
Anam cara – you have been open, accepting, grace filled, hopeful, trusting, caring, kind, gentle, honest, embracing, generous, compassionate, tender, true, filled with a spirit of seeking truth, and gently companioning others. Thank you Sherri, you remain in my heart. Lord bless you and keep you.
Sherri and I became friends while working at CRISTA Ministries together for over twenty years. I hold in my heart many sweet memories of times we shared together. To have Sherri as your friend was a gift to cherish. I look forward to seeing her sweet smile again and hearing her laugh. Now, Sherri is in the presence of the Lord enjoying a wonderful reunion with her Mom, friends and our dear Linda.
Sherri will be so missed. She was a kind and beautiful soul who had a way of making people feel special and loved. Her laugh and smile are what comes to my mind when I think of her. I am so grateful for the times I was able to spend with Sherri. Love you my cousin.
What a wonderful service to celebrate Sherri. I worked at CRISTA with her, for many years, and I’m still amazed how many, many dear friends she had, everywhere! God gave her such a kind, fun and warm personality and that’s why she really was loved by everyone! I look forward to seeing her, again, when calls me Home. Sending love to the Sanderson family who must be so proud of Sherri’s life.
I met Sherri at CRISTA and worked with her in the computer dept. She was always very thorough and managed to provide services in a caring, loving manner. Outside of work, she joined a small group for Chinese food in Seattle Chinatown and special new year celebrations. She also joined us for a trip to Mt Rainier and we enjoyed Paradise together. Sherri’s journey through the recent years of cancer encourage my faith and hope as she treasured and was positive for every day of life.
Being in China, I watched the video recordings from the prayer and memorial services. I was appreciative of the sharing from family and friends but especially moved by comments from Chuck Sanderson. Blessings and His comfort for all of those who were privliged to know Sherri.
God’s peace to Sherri’s dad and family. What a beautiful service to honor an amazing person who lived out Jesus’ love to others. Your wonderful smile and warm spirit will be missed Sherri. It has been a privilege to serve with you at CRISTA.
Sherri was a beautiful and wonderful soul who blessed my life with her pure love for God, family, and friends. Ive known her since 2015 from ATS. She pushed me to be better and do better than I could ever have done myself. She stood by me during my triumphs and comforted me during the struggles in this life. It’s so hard to believe she is gone now. What a sweet angel God now has. During my college years she was there for me every step of the way. Sherri stood proudly during my Bachelor’s graduation commencement ceremony screaming loudly! When I graduated from my Master’s she wanted so badly to be there so did I but COVID-19 got in the way. Regardless she was so proud of me when I got my Master’s degree and how far I’ve come in life. I love her and miss her dearly. Rest in peace Sherri. All my love and condolences to her family.
