Tom lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on March 12, 2019, surrounded by family at Ava’s House by Sanford in Sioux Falls.
Thomas Andrew was born January 6, 1955 to Clarence Orland and Rita (Weisbeck) Fjeldheim at Linton, ND. He was the second child of ten, growing up on the family farm near Herreid, SD where they raised small grains and had a dairy cattle operation.
He found his soulmate, Margaret Schmidt, and they were united in marriage on May 1, 1992 in Aberdeen. Tom was employed with 3M for 37 years. He was an active member of Lions Club in the Aberdeen community and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved fishing and hunting and if you needed to find him in May or June, he could be found on the Missouri River, his second home. Tom enjoyed the company of family and friends and was frequently one of the last to leave a gathering. In his last 18 months of life, he was a prolific woodworker, making furniture for his children, that they will cherish forever.
Tom was a man of few words but many words, who had a big heart. Everyone he touched now carries a piece of his heart with them.
Grateful for having shared Tom’s life are his wife, Margaret, five children, Charles (Cari) Fjeldheim of Gilbert, AZ; Karen (Clint) Thomas of Newark, CA; Michael (Aisa) Fjeldheim of Fallon, NV, Rachael (Matt) Stoecker of Sioux Falls and Elizabeth “Bitsy” Fjeldheim of Sioux Falls; five loving grandchildren, Cebastian, Antionette, Benedict, Desmond and Daphne; mother, Rita Fjeldheim of Herreid and nine siblings, Clarence (Theresa) Fjeldheim of Aberdeen, David (Kathy) Fjeldheim of Sebeka, MN, Terry (Barb) Fjeldheim of Watertown, Bryan (Sandy) Fjeldheim of Herreid, Janette (Jay) DesCamps of St. Michael, MN, Deb (Merle) Schuetzle of Herreid, Patty (Rick) Kline of Aberdeen, Lisa Schaefbauer of Glenham, SD and Mark (Tess) Fjeldheim of Herreid.
