Virginia Rae Peck, daughter of Orville and Wanda (Miller) Peck was born August 7, 1944 at St. Peter, Minnesota. Her family lived in Mellette, where she was raised. She graduated from Northwestern High School with the class of 1962 and in 1965, she received her Nursing Diploma from Presentation College. Virginia worked at St. Luke’s Hospital as a Registered Nurse in Pediatrics.
Virginia was united in marriage to Larry Ford on June 10, 1967 at Mellette. When Dakota Midland Hospital opened, she became the Head Nurse in Pediatrics until it closed. She then returned to St. Luke’s Hospital as a Pediatric Nurse and eventually transferring into the Quality Assurance Department. During her nursing career, she took several classes at Northern State College to enhance her nursing education.
Virginia loved summer and hot weather and enjoyed reading books in the summer sun. She always looked forward to visiting her brother, Dennis and sister-in-law, Carol in Arizona during the Summer and Fall. She attended Northwestern High School volleyball games until her health wouldn’t allow her and was also an avid fan of NSU Basketball of both women and men. She was a cat lover, especially Siamese cats. Virginia supported education and was a former Northwestern High School science fair judge.
Grateful for having shared Virginia’s life are her husband, Larry; son, Marc (Stephanie) Ford of Mellette and brother, Dennis (Carol) Peck of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alzheimer’s Association.

My deepest sympathy in your loss.
“Peck” was a good friend and nursing classmate for three years, I am sorry I cannot attend the services as I am out of town.
Sincerely,
Claire Ann Wheeler

Virgina I will miss you so much! I loved being a CNA and taking care of you! You always had something funny to say. RIP Virgina. I love you……♥️
Having lived in the Aberdeen area many years ago, I periodically check the obituaries on Carlsen’s website. I was so surprised to see the obituary of Virginia Ford. Virginia was the first boss I had after becoming an RN in 1971. She was my head nurse in the Pediatrics Unit at Dakota Midland Hosp. She was a good nurse, a real character, and a great boss.
Sincere condolences to all the family.
