Willis died April 29, 2020 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

Willis was born December 9, 1932 to Paul and Christine (Reule) Becker near Ashley, ND.  He attended country school through eighth grade, later earning his GED.  He entered the United States Army on January 29, 1953 and was honorably discharged on January 28, 1955.

Willis was united in marriage to Marion Gehring on June 26, 1955.  They moved to Aberdeen and he worked at Gerharter Packing for ten years and then at John Morell Company for 22 years.  Willis then switched careers and worked for the next 20 years at the Adjustment Training Center (Aspire).  While with Aspire, he worked at the Icehouse, taught a class on mask making, did maintenance and drove bus.

Willis loved waltz and polka music and also playing and listening to accordion music.  He enjoyed working in his flower and vegetable gardens and fishing was a pastime he looked forward to.  Willis will always be remembered as a great carpenter making many things for his family.  He loved his family with all his heart and spending time with his granddaughter and great-granddaughter was always full of special memories.  He loved visiting with others and especially his neighbors.

Willis had a deep faith in Jesus.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he had been an Usher and Greeter and enjoyed Bible Study.

Grateful for having shared Willis’s life are his daughter, Bea (Charles) Gruenstein; granddaughter, Kristen (Carrington) Mead and great-granddaughter, Riley; brother, Gideon (Lorraine) Becker of Ashley, ND; sisters, Betty Scheuffele of Wahpeton, ND and Deloris Lux of Jamestown, ND and brother-in-law, Allen (Elaine) Walz of Oakes, ND.
