Fargo, ND-Funeral service for Alvin Kracke, 91, of Fargo will be 11:00 am, Monday, September 16, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley, ND.  Rev. Dave Motto will officiate.

Burial will be in Lehr City Cemetery.

There will be a prayer service Sunday at 5:30 pm with visitation from 3:00–5:30 pm at the funeral home.

Alvin passed away peacefully at home after being lovingly cared for by his wonderful family, Hospice of the Red River Valley, Edgewood Vista Staff, Pastor Dave, Chaplain Tom, and friends on September 11, 2019.

Al, as we called him, was born April 24, 1928 on the family homestead near Edgeley, ND to Heinrich “Henry” and Emma (Polzin) Kracke.  He was the third youngest of nine children.  He attended a one room country school through eighth grade.  Al helped on the family farm until he joined the United States Navy when he was 17 years old.  He obtained his GED while in the service and spent most of his 20 years in the US Navy on ships.  One of his sayings was, “They showed me the world”.  He retired in 1966 and worked in Jacksonville, FL and in 1968 he returned to Edgeley and worked at Kipp Garage as a mechanic until 1982 when he married Wilma (Hochhalter) Lepp from Ashley.

They lived in Ashley where he worked as a mechanic at G&G Chevrolet Garage.  They were very happy Wilma brought him to Ashley because he had a reputation as an excellent mechanic.  He built and repaired Grandfather Clocks in his spare time.  They were also Network Marketing representatives.  Al and Wilma enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, dancing and playing cards.  Summers at their cottage at Lake Hoskins was filled with swimming, boating and fishing.  Al was a former church council member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley and a former trustee of Wishek Eagles Club.  He was a member of Calvary Methodist Church in Fargo.

They moved to Willow Park, Fargo in 2003 and enjoyed living there until 2015 when they moved to Independent Living at Edgewood Vista in South Fargo.

Al is survived by his wife, Wilma; three step-sons, Jack Lepp of Wahpeton, Jerry (Corinne) Lepp of Ashley and Glenn (Debbie) of Caputa, SD; nine step-grandchildren, Jesse Haas of Brooklyn, NY, Chad Lepp of Wolf Creek, OR, Neil Freidt of New Underwood, SD, Jennifer (Mike) Raup of Box Elder, SD, Alicia (Jonathon) Torfin of Mandan, Heather (Bryce) Anderson of St. Louis Park, MN, Joseph Lepp of Los Angeles, CA, Kara (Tucker) Kreft of Lincoln, ND and Camille Lepp of New Delhi, India; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Iva Slag of Bismarck; brother, Hank (Pauline) Kracke of California and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, three step-sons, Danny Lepp, Leo Lepp and Eddy Lepp and step-daughter-in-law, Mary Lepp.

Casketbearers will be Jesse Haas, Chad Lepp, Joseph Lepp, Tucker Kreft, Bryce Anderson and Neil Freidt.
