Sally passed from this life Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre.

Sally was born July 2, 1925 on the family farm five miles north of Onaka in Edmunds County, SD to Joseph and Cecelia (Werlinger) Kraft.  She grew up near Onaka, learning the value of hard work on the farm.  She graduated from Central High School in Aberdeen, then attended college, earning her teaching certificate.  Sally taught in the rural schools around Onaka.

After meeting on a dance floor, on June 9, 1947, she was united in marriage to Milbert Jung of Eureka, SD.  They moved into Onaka where she continued to teach grade school until her daughter, Sharon was born.  Sally loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, playing cards, especially pinochle and Kings in the Corner, and visiting with her many friends.  Sally enjoyed dance music and she and Milbert went to many dances and Polka festivals.

In 1960, she and Milbert built a new house on the north side of Onaka and lived there until 1992.  Milbert wanted to move to Aberdeen after retiring but Sally didn’t want to leave her house.  So Milbert arranged that she would not have to leave her house.  They bought a lot in Aberdeen and moved all their belongings, including the house, several of her beloved Colorado Blue Spruce trees and her garden shed.  Sally lived in that house until 2015 when she sold the house and moved to Crystal Apartments on South Roosevelt Street in Aberdeen.  After a fall on July 5, 2017 that made it impossible for her to return to her apartment, she moved to Pierre to be near her family.  She remained there until her passing.

Sally was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society, Onaka American Legion Auxiliary, Rural Letter Carrier Auxiliary, Aberdeen Senior Center and of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Sally will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  Grateful for having shared Sally’s life are her daughter, Sharon (Ken) Erlenbusch of Pierre; sister, Arlene (Bob) Kindelspire of Lakeville, MN; brother-in-law, Barney Herman of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Guy (Ellen) Erlenbusch of Farmington, MN and Joy (Matt) Ellefson of Pierre; great-grandchildren, Lukas Erlenbusch, and Mia and Ethan Ellefson and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (11-30-2008), brother, Leo Kraft and sisters, Genevieve (Lawrence) Walz and Elsie Herman.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Sally’s Dancing Friends.

Casketbearers will be Jim Hanson, Melvin Pitsor, Andrew Pitsor, Don Erlenbusch, Larry Erlenbusch and Matt Ellefson.
