Aberdeen, SD-Memorial service for Christopher Ross Pond, 29, of Aberdeen will be 10:30 am, Monday, June 17, 2019 at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1708 8th Ave. NE. Rev. Michael Griffin will officiate.
Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
A time of fellowship will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Fellowship Hall.
Christopher died June 12, 2019 at his home.
Christopher Ross, son of Timothy and Julie (Witkop) Pond was born July 21, 1989 at March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA. He and his mother lived with her parent’s in Marion, SD for a year while his dad was stationed in Japan. In 1990, the family was reunited and stationed near Memphis, TN, then moving to Jacksonville, NC where he started school. His family moved to Aberdeen in 1997. Christopher graduated from Central High School with the class of 2007. He then worked at Kessler’s for two years and at Helms and Associates as a Survey Technician for the last ten years. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and co-workers.
He loved his cars and his Lincolns were his favorites. Restoring cars was his passion. He also enjoyed computers and listening to vinyl records. He looked forward to the annual NESD Celtic Faire and Highland Games, which he was a participant in. Christopher had a caring, helpful and sharing nature and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Grateful for having shared Christopher’s life are his parents, Timothy and Julie Pond of Aberdeen; brother, Boyce (Hayley Gibson) Pond of Aberdeen; love of his life and little mini me, Christeen “Chrissi” Krahl and Xavior Ellenbecker of Aberdeen; paternal grandmother, Carolyn Pickart of Tea, SD; maternal grandmother, Gertrude Witkop of Marion, SD and his three legged Yorkie, Milo.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Nathanial Pond, two grandfathers, William Pond and Roscoe Witkop and two step-grandfathers, Jack Pickart and Wesley Witkop.
Honorary Urnbearers will be Christopher’s cousins and Nick Blazer, Gabriel Gutherie, Adam Ausborn, Justin Fischer and Mike McGarry.
Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
