Aberdeen, SD-Funeral service for Mareta Hormann, 83, of Aberdeen will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Aberdeen. Pastor Neil Hannahs will officiate.
Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the mausoleum.
Mareta died November 23, 2018 at Prairie Heights Healthcare.
Mareta June Hillen, daughter of Henry and Ida Mae (Reisdorph) Hillen was born June 4, 1935 at Aberdeen. She was raised on the family farm south of Sand Lake. She attended country school and completed school in Columbia, SD graduating with the class of 1954. Mareta worked at a creamery in Aberdeen and roomed with the sisters of her future husband.
Mareta was united in marriage to Eugene Hormann on July 5, 1957 at Redfield, SD. He was in the military and she moved with him to his duty stations around the United States and Germany. In 1965, after Eugene’s honorable discharge, they returned and settled in Aberdeen. She worked for Fisher’s Cleaning Services in their office for many years.
Mareta was a member of Northern Plains Baptist and church was a large part of her life. She liked to keep herself active and thoroughly enjoyed her walks and bicycle rides.
Grateful for having shared Mareta’s life are her son, Daniel (Ramona) Hormann of Aberdeen; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Andrew and Elizabeth and one great-granddaughter, Moriah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eugene (5-9-2012) and one brother, Delbert.
Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
